Only the last 4 digits of all credit card numbers transmitted through our system will be visible. All credit card numbers are tokenized which means they are replaced by a series of jumbled letters and numbers which cannot be used for transactions outside of the vendor's card processing system. Tokenization ensures vendors do not have to put any additional compliance practices in place since Ribbon takes on that burden. Ribbon meets Level 1 PCI compliance, the highest and strictest level.
NOTE: If you are currently using a system that exposes credit card numbers, please be aware that PCI non-compliance can result in massive penalties ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 per month by the credit card companies. These penalties depend on the volume of clients, the volume of transactions, the level of PCI-DSS that the company should be on, and the time that it has been non-compliant.
